However, pharmacies in New Zealand have been able to sell the drug through the New Zealand Health Minister’s Office. The government’s Health Minister, Dr Mark Andrews, today said the medicine was available in New Zealand, and that he was pleased to see Viagra available in New Zealand for sale in the country.
“The health ministry has provided a new pharmacy option for our patients,” Mr Andrews said.
“It’s been a great help to us for a while, but the supply of it is not always available. We’re not sure how the medication is to be sold in New Zealand, or when it can be purchased.”
Mr Andrews said: “We’ve received several reports of people buying Viagra in New Zealand. It’s not always available, and we’re not sure when it will be available.”
He said: “It is always important that the pharmacy be available. That’s why we are so excited to see that our medicines are available.”
The drug, known by the brand name “Sildenafil,” is used to treat erectile dysfunction in men.
The drug was originally developed by Pfizer as a drug to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension. It was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1999, and is still available legally in New Zealand.
